AWAKEN
Ps 57:8, Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.
The family word of "awaken" is common in God's vocabulary, used to stir a person's soul to rise up and give heed to His voice.
In Hebrew, its word picture is simply one of "opening the eyes", waking oneself up, to arouse or to be excited.
We need to be reminded of the need to "Awake" as we go through seasons in our lives where our souls slumber and move into a passive or maintenance mode. We become slow and indifferent towards the things of God, His Word and His work. Life seems to be filled with all kinds of pursuits and priorities except God.
As I seek God for 2010, just this one word came into my heart; "AWAKEN"! I believe God is calling every heart, every soul, every individual to be stirred and be alive towards His plan and purpose.
When David wrote this Psalm, scholars believe he was most probably in a situation where he was surrounded by Saul's army, pressing in to capture him. While hiding in a cave and under immense pressure with enemies at his heels, he penned this chapter!
I love the way he directed his soul, calling and instructing his soul to be awakened.Then he fixed his soul to worship and praise God Almighty.
And finally, he declared with such conviction, "I will awaken the dawn", bringing back that "first thing" of seeking God and calling upon His Name!
Let's begin 2010 with the same spirit, aligning and placing God as FIRST in our lives!

诗 57:8, 我的灵阿, 你当醒起来, 琴瑟阿, 你们当醒起来. 我自己要极早醒起.
“唤醒”这个家庭字眼在神的词汇里面是很普通的, 它是用来搅动一个人的灵魂, 唤醒他起来聆听神的声音.
在希伯来文里面, 它的文字图像是简单的”打开眼睛”, 叫醒自己, 起来或者感觉振奋.
在我们渡过生命里不同的季节, 我们的灵魂沉睡并进入消极或维修的状态时, 我们需要被提醒必须”唤醒”. 我们变得缓慢, 对于神的事情, 他的话语和他的事工漠不关心. 生活似乎充满了各种各样的追求和优先事项, 除了神以外.
当我为2010年寻求神时, 只有这个字眼出现在我的心里; “唤醒”!我相信神在呼唤每颗心, 每个灵魂, 每个人, 被他的计划和目标搅动, 再次活跃过来.
当大卫写下这首诗篇时, 学者相信当时他很有可能正处于被扫罗的军队围困, 逼近俘虏他的情况下. 当他躲避在洞穴里, 面对敌人逼近眉梢的极度压力下,他写下了这首诗篇!
我喜欢他指引他的灵魂的方式, 呼叫并命令他的灵魂要醒来. 然后他确定他的灵要敬拜和赞美全能的上帝.
最后, 他充满决心的宣告, “我自己要极早起来”, 重新恢复”第一件事”就是寻求神及呼叫他的名!
让我们以同样的精神来开始2010年, 重新调整并且在我们的生命里将神放在第一位!
